Vibrant Spring Colors Coming Soon!

The calendar says it's March but, the temperatures say it's May...early spring bulbs have broken through the ground and have been growing. Some of them since December! With such mild winter weather and the resulting lack of frozen ground, many plants don't know what to do!
Ohio's climate seems to have changed over the past several years to a "warmer than normal" being the usual. This spring seems to be approaching especially fast. With daytime temperatures in the 50s and 60s and the soil temperatures warming, early bulbs may bloom 20-30 days ahead of schedule. Trees are forming buds and even the grass is showing signs of growth.

There are several early spring bulbs--crocus, daffodils, tulips, paper-whites, hyacinths, and grape hyacinths--that can add early spring color to the landscape. With dozens of new varieties of early spring bulbs coming out each year, it's hard to remember what our favorite colors and varieties are. So take pictures and make notes of color combinations, varieties, and planting ideas in the spring to help with planting ideas in the fall.

A beautiful landscape takes time, patience, and planning. After all, the spring color comes from what we planted in the fall. If you'd like help planning, planting, and maintaining a beautiful landscape, call us at Buckeye Landscape Service. 614-866-0088.
